EDUCATION: EXPERIENCE: Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Baron guides clients in selecting and clearing trademarks and prosecuting trademark and copyright applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Copyright Office. He also counsels clients on matters involving rights of publicity and privacy. In transactional matters, Mr. Baron drafts, reviews and negotiates intellectual property licenses and assignments, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements and employment agreements. Demonstrating his experience in the areas of media law, intellectual property and commercial dispute resolution, Mr. Baron:
Mr. Baron is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Minnesota. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third and Seventh Circuits, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (member of Trial Bar) and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Mr. Baron is a member of the American Bar Association, and its Litigation and Intellectual Property Law Sections and Forum on Communications Law. He is also a member of the Copyright Society of the USA and the Illinois State Bar Association where he served as the Chair of the Intellectual Property Section Council, and he is a member of the Lawyer's Club. Mr. Baron is a frequent author and lecturer on topics involving media and intellectual property and an adjunct professor at Bradley University where he teaches a course on media theory at the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts. He is also a frequent lecturer at the DePaul University Law School Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology. At the University of Minnesota School of Law, Mr. Baron served as an editor on the Minnesota Law Review and was active in the Minnesota Justice Foundation, a public interest organization. Before starting his practice, Mr. Baron served as a law clerk for two Minnesota District Judges.. Mr. Baron is also active in pro bono circles. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Legal Community Against Violence and Heartland Human Care and Services. He has also received the "Distinguished Service Award" for his volunteer work representing low income clients through the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. |
