EXPERIENCE:

Ms. Harris is a 2000 graduate of The University of Wisconsin Law School. Prior to joining Mandell Menkes in 2004, Ms. Harris primarily represented wholly-owned Japanese subsidiary corporate clients in a wide variety of commercial and employment disputes in state and federal courts. Since joining Mandell Menkes, she has focused on media and privacy related litigation, trademark prosecution and litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, promotions and marketing law, copyright infringement litigation, information technology litigation, commercial litigation and ERISA defense litigation on behalf of insurers. She has represented a variety of companies and individuals in matters involving trademark infringement, registration, opposition and cancellation proceedings, defamation and invasion of privacy, sweepstakes and skill contest rules, product-related copyright infringement and claims for employee benefits. Ms. Harris has been involved extensively in all aspects of motion practice, discovery and trial preparation, including preparing and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions and representing clients during settlement conferences. Ms. Harris' recent accomplishments include briefing and arguing a successful motion for summary judgment in a defamation matter on behalf of a local suburban newspaper.

Ms. Harris is a member of the American Bar Association.  She is involved with the Media Law Resource Center and has attended media law-related conferences including the Media and Law Seminar sponsored by the University of Kansas School of Law and the ABA Forum on Communications Law.

Ms. Harris co-authored the following published articles: “Employer Liability for Employee Internet Use”, International Legal Strategy (ILS), Vol. X-3 (March 15, 2001); “Illinois Court Rejects Absolute Privilege for Intracorporate Communications,” MLRC Media Law Letter (Feb. 28, 2005) and “‘Battle Of The Privileges’ in Illinois Supreme Court Justice’s Defamation Suit Against Newspaper,” MLRC Media Law Letter (October 31, 2005).

            Before receiving her law degree, Ms. Harris spent nearly two years living and working in both the Kansai Region and Tokyo, Japan.
