Mandell Menkes Lawyers Present Commercial Lending Seminar

May 11, 2006 – Four lawyers from the Mandell Menkes LLC commercial lending practice gave a full day seminar today at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago to an audience of bankers, banking attorneys and corporate financial officers. The Mandell Menkes lawyers were joined on the speaker’s platform by two prominent bankers whose institutions are clients of the firm.
Candelario Martinez, Senior Vice President and Director of Originations with Wells Fargo Bank opened the program by discussing analytical tools for solid commercial lending decisions. Candelario and Bruce Menkes of Mandell Menkes then focused on the initiation of the loan process and the commitment stage. Bruce de’Medici of Mandell Menkes finished the morning session by addressing loan default, restructuring and bankruptcy issues.
Jennifer Widmer and Timothy Fossa, Senior Vice President of U.S. Bancorp opened the afternoon session with a step-by-step discussion of the closing process. Tim then discussed post-closing credit monitoring. Ned Othman of Mandell Menkes then took the podium to deliver “nuts and bolts” advice on Uniform Commercial Code issues and commercial loan documentation. Bruce Menkes closed the program by addressing lender liability issues.
The day-long seminar focused on practical issues and advice, distilling pertinent examples from actual loan transactions and experiences. Encouraging participation, the presenters navigated the audience through credit analyses, loan management procedures and loan documentation drawn from their broad experiences with successful credit transactions.
